Here's a little bit more information about us.
Founder and Violinist, Emily is a native of Louisville, KY. She received her degree in Violin Performance from the prestigious North Carolina School of the Arts and has been a first violin in the Charlotte Symphony for over 27 years. Emily loves being part of a bride's special day and has played in over 800 weddings during her career.
Nancy studied viola at Ball State University and obtained her Master of Music degree from the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University. After playing extra with the Houston Symphony, and full-time with the Savannah Symphony, she joined the Charlotte Symphony. Nancy has been active teaching privately and coaching viola sections both with the Charlotte Youth Symphony and at various high schools. She has been with the Carolina Chamber Players since its founding.
Susan went to Peabody Conservatory where she studied with Charles Libove and learned from some of the finest musicians a professional could study under. She has been in the Charlotte Symphony since 1987. When she's not playing with the symphony or with us, she's practicing or continuing her teaching at her private violin studio, which she has been doing since age 16. She has also worked with the special needs children of Metro School for 19 years designing a system to teach them violin. She currently coaches the strings at Northwest School of the Arts during the year and chamber music camps during the summer.
Dorothy studied cello performance at Eastman School of Music, graduated with a bachelor's degree from the State University of New York and obtained her Master of Music degree from North Carolina School of the Arts. Her early professional performing was with the Colorado Philharmonic and the Hudson Valley Philharmonic. After moving to North Carolina she performed with the Eastern Music Festival, the Greensboro Symphony, and ultimately the Charlotte Symphony. Dorothy also performs with small ensembles for recitals, church services, and weddings. She has been with the Carolina Chamber players since 1999.
